A test patch is carried out to determine the treatment parameters and to judge how your skin might react to a full treatment. A test patch is a small trial in an area with similar hair and skin to the treatment site and allows the practitioner to assess how well the light energy is being absorbed and whether the skin is responding as would be expected.
We ask you to come to your consultation with hair growth. It’s important for us to see the hair as this helps us determine the appropriate settings for treating your hair type and skin type.
There must be no active or fake tan in the area to be treated. Any form of tan from sunbeds, sunlight or fake tan is not allowed in the month prior to a patch test or treatment and must be completely faded before treatment commences.
If you are considering a laser treatment on your face, you must avoid using Retinol in the treatment area for at least 14 days prior to your visit.
A full medical history is taken at consultation, this is important as there are some medications that would prevent us from treating you. Please come prepared with the names of any medication you are taking including those prescribed by a doctor or a herbalist.
Clients are asked to make a note of any redness or swelling after the patch test, although these are normal. Please also advise if the skin blistered or felt excessively hot and for how long.
